HOW TO DEHYDRATE GARLIC

Image
I have said many times I love garlic.  I love cooking with garlic.  I keep a bag of peeled garlic in my fridge almost all the time.  I also have bulbs of garlic on hand.  I normally even have  Roasted Garlic  on hand as well.  Garlic is just so tasty and useful.   Garlic is also beneficial to our health.  Here are 6 ways.   Garlic does not have many calories. Garlic is helpful in weight loss. Garlic will help lower your blood pressure. Garlic can even help lower your cholesterol. Eating garlic might help to detox your body of heavy metals. Garlic has antioxidants that help with dementia and Alzheimer's.    Since I have peeled garlic on hand and just sometimes I do not use it quick enough, itis perfect to dehydrate.  Half the work is already done for me.  Meaning, I did the peel work earlier.   Dehydrating garlic is so easy to do.  All you have to do is peel your garlic cloves and slice or chop them. Lay them out on your pan. Put them in your dehy

HOW TO MAKE CRISPY PICKLED JALAPENOS

Image
I have struggled to find a recipe to make pickled jalapenos that were nice and crisp.  My pickled jalapenos were mushy and could only be used as a spice, like in chili or some Mexican dish.  I wanted my pickled jalapenos to have a crunchy bite to them.  I wanted to feel the crisp when I bit into it.  Being frugal I could not just toss them out so of course I still used them.   The last few years I have found a way to make sure they are crunchy and nicely crisp.  I use 2 products, Pickling lime and pickle crisp.  Yeah, I double do it but it works!! My jalapenos came at a lark this year.  Our friend Wade gave us some pepper plants that he had started from seed.  I think he felt sorry for us because we did not have a good turnout with our own seedlings.  We thought we were getting scotch bonnet peppers but it turned out we got 4 jalapeno pepper plants instead.  There is a joke behind planting seeds, do not drink and label your seeds.  It is funny how things turn out becau

THE BEST KEY LIME PIE EASY MAKE RECIPE

Image
I have to start off with an apology.  I apologize because I had tons of pictures and some way I have lost all but one.  Which means I just need to make another pie so I can have pictures. I love Key Lime Pie.  I feel totally head over heels for this pie while on vacation in Outer Banks, NC.  To be precise Avon, NC.  I do not remember the name of the seafood joint but I do remember it was very expensive and you did not get a lot but looked like a hole in the wall.  I will admit though the food was amazing.  Plus it is a good thing that the serving size was small because it left room for dessert which never happens.   The pie I had there was not really pretty.  The homemade graham cracker crust was uneven and it had quite a bit of homemade whip topping but it was amazing.  So, amazing that the next time I dropped by for a piece to go and they had sold out.  That is when I found out someone on the island makes them for this restaurant and they sell out quickly.  Needless to say, the

GARLIC ROASTED POTATOES

Image
As I was making the  Italian Meatloaf today, I decided to make garlic roasted potatoes.  Of course, I cook stuff I like or love.  Since I love garlic and I love these potatoes I thought they would go well with the Italian meatloaf.  I have to admit I was totally correct, this rocked with the meatloaf.  I make these a lot just because they are easy and a great side dish for almost any meal.  Plus for some reason, I think you are supposed to have some type of potatoes when you eat meatloaf.  Normal meatloaf I have to make garlic mashed potatoes.  I just did not like the idea of mashed potatoes for this recipe so I opted for these instead. I picked up several bags of mixed new potatoes the other week at Lidl because they were super cheap.  Come on when you can get a bag of red, purple and new baby potatoes under a dollar that is a deal.  They normally run upwards of $4.  Since I still had a few bags I decided to use these potatoes but you can use about any kind you would like.  I

A NEW TWIST ON MEATLOAF~ITALIAN STYLE MEATLOAF

I love meatloaf.  It is funny how your taste buds change every so often.  You probably have heard every 7 years but that has to be some myth.  After all, how would you measure 7 years?  Would it be from the day you were born?  Would it be from the day you tried something you did not like?  Or from the second time you tried it and could not tolerate the taste or texture in your mouth?  Seriously how do you measure a span of time?   I honestly did not like meatloaf until I was a mother.  No, I did not crave it while pregnant or right after I had my kids.  Instead, I made a meatloaf for my family and I thought why not try it.  Goodness, how did I never like meatloaf before?  I loved everything about it.  Even better, it was so darn tasty the next day as a sandwich.  Add a little hot sauce and maybe some cheese to a toasted bun.  Yum!!!   I have made normal meatloaf with ground beef.  I have made a ground turkey meatloaf.  Oh, and ground venison is the bomb.  I really need to pos
