HOW TO MAKE BOOZY FROZEN POPS

It is summer and everyone is trying to figure out how to stay cool, whether it is by playing in the pool, going to the lake, dipping in the ocean, having water gun fights, jumping throw a sprinkler or having frozen cocktail concoctions. You know those drinks in fancy cups with fruit and a straw?

I have heard that Costco is now selling some type of boozy ice pop similar to the liquid things you buy then freeze at home.  The internet is pinging with all types of these popsicles.  Heck, some are really expensive.

I am pretty sure I said last weekend to someone that I was going to learn how to make them.  Well, guess what I have!!!  Why spend tons of money on an adult freezer popsicle when you can make them at home pretty cheap?

To make them inexpensive, go to the dollar store and buy paper cups, plastic wrap, and popsicle sticks.  Yeah, they sell them because I have a sleeve of the cups in my cabinet. These are the staples for the pops. The rest is ingredients. Just pour your mix that you make into the paper cups, cover with plastic wrap, make a small slice in the middle of the plastic wrap on top of the cup and insert the popsicle stick.  If your plastic wrap is not working try aluminum foil and freeze.

The trick to making them freeze is not using too much alcohol.  Therefore, you need to do some math because you do not want more than 8% alcohol in the mix.  Most beers are under 8% so you could freeze them.  If you want to add fruit pick up a corona, limeade and a slice or squeeze of lime.  Buy summer shady and add orange juice.  You get the picture.

Wine is normally between 13 and 15 ABV which is easy math because you could just do half wine and half something else.

With wine, you can do so much.  You can make bellinis with champagne and peach juice.  Or mimosas with champagne and orange juice.

For some math help look at this page for dilution.

Cosmo would be good too.  Vodka, cranberry juice, limeade, maybe a squeeze of orange and lime.

You pretty much can do anything you want with any liquor, beer or wine, and a mixer.

Pink lemonade and blueberry vodka.  Yummy Lisa Phelps remember drinking these at the pool?

When I was in Punta Cana 2 summers ago there was this amazing drink that was offered to us at the Brazilian style restaurant we went to.  It is called caipirinha.  Karen Everhart, if you are reading this you remember those drinks, right?  I know we all loved them.  They are basically a Brazilian rum, lime, and sugar.  Brazilian rum is called cachaca. Not sure if our local ABC store sales it but I am sure you can use rum in the popsicle.
