HOMEMADE COPYCAT MANWICH MIX
For some unknown reason, I have been craving beef. Well even more weird I have been wanting stuff with ground beef. I am not a huge meat eater but when I want beef I just about have to have it. So, when I was at Lidi's yesterday I was thrilled to see that they had 30% off of 5 pounds of 80/20 ground beef. My mind literally has been running all day on recipes to use. Been doing tons of research but I have had a migraine so I have not felt like running out to the store to get anything.
I really wanted sloppy joes or manwiches. Again I did not feel like going out to get anything so I rummaged through my pantry to find some ingredients and came up with this simple recipe. I love it when a plan comes together and I did not have to go anywhere.
I have canned manwich mixture before so I kind of went on that recipe to make dinner tonight. However, I thought it was a bit sweet when I canned it so instead of using all ketchup I used some tomato sauce.
I use 8 ounces of tomato sauce and 8 ounces of ketchup and pour both into a saucepan.
From there I added dried onions, fresh chopped red pepper, garlic powder, celery seed, chili powder, and mustard.
I allowed this to warm so the flavors would blend together. BUT when I tasted it I added some fresh coarse ground black pepper and some Texas Pete hot sauce. I like a bit of spice and heat to my sloppy joes.
Of course, I browned a pound of ground beef, thus the entire reason I wanted to make this recipe.
Added my manwich mix to my ground beef and I had some dang good sloppy joes.
I do believe this is def a keeper recipe.

I love to eat mine on a toasted bun or bread with a slice of cheese. Tator tots are really good with it too. Wonder if I have any in the freezer? If not that is fine too.
ENJOYY!!
