16 BENEFITS OF ROSEWATER

Image
Rosewater is so good for you.  I mean it is totally magical for your skin.  It's really good for your body not just your skin.  I had no clue just how awesome it was for you until I did research yesterday after coming back from my mom's house with 2-gallon ziplock bags packed full of petals. I came home from my mom's and made my rosewater.  I could hardly wait to call my mom and tell her today.  When I finally was able to call her she told me about a lady she use to work with that used rosewater and glycerin on her skin every day.  I told her I had used it this morning and loved the way my skin felt.  I do not have the words to explain just how awesome my skin feels.  I have really dry skin on my forehead but normal about everywhere else and by using this all of my skin finally feels the same. I understand why my skin feels so good.  It is because rosewater helps balance the pH in your skin so it is excellent for people with eczema, psoriasis or just dry skin but it

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE ROSE WATER ~ JUST A PETAL AWAY

I went to visit my mom yesterday since I am not going to get to see her tomorrow for Mother's Day.  I had such a nice time that I hated when it came time for me to leave.  She has a nice screened in back porch so we were sitting there and I was looking at all her beautiful flowers.  Now you have to know that my mom has a green thumb like no one else.  Her flowers are always so incredibly gorgeous.  She has a rose bush between the porch and her driveway.  I was watching the birds bathe in her birdbath which is right beside of one of her rose bushes.  As we were talking I told her I wanted a rose bush.  I have never had much luck with them though.  For years I have wanted to make something with rose petals and I asked her could I have some of her roses since I do not have a bush of my own.  My mom and I collected 2-gallon ziplock bags full of petals.   Since Spring has Sprung so many flowers are in full bloom.  They are so pretty.   My mom asked me just what in t

SURPRISING WAYS TO USE GREEK YOGURT

Image
If you read my  Greek yogurt  post then you know just how over the moon excited I am with making it.  Yep, I am truly excited and so excited I decided to treat you with some surprising ways to use the stuff.  It is NOT just for eating by its self ya know? Greek yogurt is amazing.  Almost everyone loves the stuff.  I mean a lot of people got on the bandwagon due to its high amount of protein.  1 cup of the stuff equals the protein in 3 ounces of chicken. It is thick, creamy and full of calcium and full of healthy probiotics.  WIN WIN right?  However, the tart flavor allows it to really shine in other ways and usages.  Top your yogurt with some  lemon curd  and  granola .  Or stir in some honey.  You can add almost anything you want.  You can go savory and add veggies.  It makes a fabulous breakfast or snack. Add it to your oatmeal to pack a protein and calcium punch.   Make it into a dip.  Combine it with garlic, salt, cucumber, lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil,

PUT A LITTLE GREEK IN YOUR LIFE ~ YOGURT GREEK STYLE

Oh, my I am so excited!!!  I could hardly wait to get on here and write about Greek yogurt.  I know that sounds silly.  Maybe even a bit crazy but I am ecstatic over making Greek-style yogurt.    Really it is no different than making normal  yogurt .  BUT it is totally different.  I know that makes no sense but bare with me a few minutes and keep on reading.   I want to say there is absolutely no reason why YOU can not make yogurt.  I still can not believe how scared I was to make it and how long I kept on putting it off.  All you need is an Instant Pot and a few ingredients.   I use the no cook cold start method which is amazing and so simple.   OK, let me back up a minute.  I started making yogurt just a few weeks ago.  Since then I decided I wanted to make Greek yogurt.  I mean let's get real you can use Greek yogurt in so many kinds of ways.  I needed a strainer though.  Not just any strainer would do for me.  I wanted the best or what I think is the best.  I order

PANZANELLA ~ NOT JUST ANY SALAD BUT A TUSCAN BREAD SALAD

Image
You never know what you will find at my house to eat.  I hate to waste stuff so I am all the time looking for recipes to use up leftovers.  This is how I came upon this recipe.  I had this old loaf of bread, yeah it was a bit stale, I really had no idea what to do with it.  It was an entire loaf so I really did not want to throw it out to the birds.  I know that would not have been wasteful because the birds would have loved it but dang it was a whole stinking loaf of homemade  sourdough bread.  I just had to figure out something to do with it and what did I find?  I found but a Panzanella recipe.  Panzanella is a Tuscan Bread Salad.  Yep, it is Italian but especially from the region of Tuscany.  It was created to use with a crusty old stale loaf of bread.  They too did not like to waste anything.  I really do not understand why my DNA does not have some Italian intertwined within my cells.  I have always loved Italian food.  Well, who am I kidding I love all kinds of foods.   I

FAJITAS ROCKIN THE CROCKPOT

I have always loved fajitas.  However, with summer coming Mexican can be heavy.  F ajitas are a great way to get your Mexican fix in the summer months.  My dad was not one to really like anything but southern cooking but he would eat fajitas which meant we got to go eat Mexican sometimes when we would go out to dinner with him.  Now he never put the fajita filling into the tortillas but he ate the meat and even some of the vegetables.   Saturday was Cinco de Mayo and we had a small party.  Since we invited quite a few people I was not sure if we would have enough food so I decided to make crockpot fajitas.  It was a recipe my daughter had mentioned to me a few months back.  I knew I would be busy Saturday and not have enough time to actually fix fajitas on the stove top or grill so this was an excellent choice for me.  Now, I will say do NOT compare them to regular fajitas because you might be disappointed.  This recipe still has some good qualities to offer.  One, you do n

SRIRACHA COLESLAW

I have to admit this one even surprised me.  We had a Cinco de Mayo party Saturday and Scott smoked some salmon Jeremy brought over. I made  crockpot fajitas which I will share very soon. However, we had thawed some tilapia and did not cook it so last night Scott put it on the Big Green Egg.  I love our BGE (Big Green Egg).  Another Craig's List steal or should I say find but it really was a steal.  Hardly used and they people selling it gave us everything they had purchased to go with it.  Awesome deal.  Oh and THANKS Wade for allowing us to babysit yours for those few months as you were house hunting.  That just nailed it for us having to purchase one.   As usual, I digress.  Back on topic.  Since we were making the fish for tacos I wanted a coleslaw to go along with it.  Scott and I love hot stuff so we blackened the fish which was yummy good.  But I wanted a spicy coleslaw.  So, me being me decided why not use some of my homemade  sriracha  sauce to my coleslaw.
