WHY EVERYONE SHOULD OWN AN INSTANT POT

Since making this post, I have purchased 2.  My first one as you can see was not the name brand instant pot.  My two new ones are instant pots.  I can not tell a huge difference.

I really can not believe it took me weeks to break this out of the box.  I am so totally addicted to using it now.  It makes my life so much easier.

Everyone and I mean everyone should own an electric pressure cooker. Mine is not an Instant Pot but an Insignia Multi-Pressure Cooker.  It is so awesome.  I do not know what I would do without mine now.  I honestly have withdrawals when I do not use mine for a day.

I have to admit though I had the thing in a box for well over a month before I got the nerve up to open it and read the directions.  I also have to admit the directions were very confusing.  My husband loves YouTube so I went on YouTube and figured out how to use mine.

You are supposed to start with a water test before you cook in the pressure cooker.  This is actually an important step when first starting out.  One, it helps you to become familiar with your pressure cooker and two it tells you if your pot is working correctly.

Water Test Steps

  • Plug in your pot
  • Place your inner pot into the cooker
  • Put 3 cups of water into the inner pot
  • Always check your sealing ring
  • Put your lid on the pot
  • Turn your steam valve to sealing
  • Select the steam setting
  • At this point, your pot will start working and you might hear some noises.  Your valve will pop up
  • Wait for the beep.  The beep will tell you that you have completed the cycle
Now there are 2 ways of venting your pot.  One is a nature release (NR) the second one is a quick release (QR). The nature release just means you are allowing your pot to release the steam and pressure naturally and on its own.  The QR means you open your valve so the steam will come out quickly.  You need to be very careful when doing this because you can burn yourself.

I honestly can not say enough how much I love my pressure cooker.  I have so much fun with it.  I believe everyone should own one or maybe even two.

My first day of using my pot was so much fun and I learned a lot.  I made boiled eggs.  You will read that they are so easy to peel and it is so true.  I will never ever do a boiled egg any other way then in my pressure cooker.  I also made steel cut oats.  My husband loves steel cut oats.  I now make them every week for his breakfast that he takes to work.  I also made some vegetables on my first day.  We love brussels sprouts so of course, I had to make some in my pot.  Awesome!!!!

I fell totally in love with my pot instantly.  HAHA, I now spend hours just looking up recipes to try.  Today I did quinoa for breakfast bowls.  AMAZING!!!!  So yummy.

I have to admit you will be seeing tons of recipes using the pressure cooker.  I can not believe I waited so long to get one.  My friend Mari has 3!!  Yup, 3.  I see why though because I could easily use 2 at one time.  Hint, hint, dear husband... you might be seeing another one soon in the kitchen.
